Under the name of "Swissair Ground Services International AG", Swissport was incorporated on 16 August 1996 before a notary public in Switzerland. The legal separation from its parent company Swissair laid the basis for a global growth and success story which continues to this day. From its modest beginnings with operations at the airports in Zurich, Geneva and Basel, Swissport has developed into a global leader. Today, some 850 air carriers place their trust in Swissport as an outsourcing partner.
And our ambitions remain high. We want to be the global brand airlines turn to when they look for a ground service partner. We combine best in class service and provide our customers with best value for money, market leading process flexibility and system compatibility. Our people are the bedrock of all we do at Swissport. They make it happen from landing to take-off. At Swissport, training and employee development are crucial for maintaining a skilled workforce, delivering excellent service, and ensuring safety.
At every level of our organization we invest in training programs and career progression plans to ensure every team member is set up for succcess.
In 2024, Swissport delivered more than 1.6 million training sessions. For every 100 hours worked by our operational colleagues, we invest 3 hours of targeted training—covering safety, technical proficiency, and customer interaction.
Through training that aligns with our “Zero Harm” approach, we develop a resillient, diverse, and skilled workforce that does things the Swissport way.
