Our vision is to enable the development of a resilient electrified society, independent of fossil fuels and critical raw materials. The main issue that we solve is the intermittancy problem of renewable energy production and the increased decentralization

of the electric grid, by developing a truly affordable large-scale energy storage system.

Membrane-less flow batteries.

A groundbreaking innovation in energy storage technology, the emergence of membrane-less flow batteries will revolutionize the field. Unlike traditional flow batteries that rely on membranes to separate the electrolytes, this new type eliminates the need for membranes altogether. By leveraging a unique design, these membrane-less flow batteries offer several advantages. Firstly, they exhibit higher energy efficiency and longer lifespan due to the absence of membrane degradation. Additionally, the elimination of membranes reduces the overall cost and complexity of the system, making it more accessible for widespread adoption. With their superior performance and cost-effectiveness, membrane-less flow batteries hold immense potential for transforming the energy storage landscape and accelerating the transition towards a sustainable future.

Our product is local, designed and assembled right in our production facility in Thalwil. The value we bring to the customer is the simplest energy storage system they could imagine. This translate into the following Unique Selling Points of our solution:

1. Scalable cost: with no need of costly membranes and cell stacks our system is designed to work simply with immiscible liquids and minimal hardware components.

2. Safe: we use not-inflammable water-based electrolytes, free from mined materials linked to critical supply chains.

3. Durable: our system is designed to last over 20'000 cycles, making it perfect for applications requiring stationary long duration energy storage.

4. Efficient: round trip efficiency of the system up to 85% thanks to less internal resistance due to the lack of membranes.

5. Sustainable: no need of membrane means that the carbon footprint related to the production of our battery is lowered by 30% compared to conventional redox flow batteries.

Your storage solution.

Our very early adopters are (1) SMEs with local PV production, like supermarkets or sport facilities, seeking optimization of their energy consumption and (2) energy sensitive businesses, such as data centers or logistics distribution centers, seeking a cheap and safe energy storage solution for back-up power, EV fast-charging stations and other electricity related services.

At scale, our battery is perfectly suited for (3) industrial facilities with local PV production seeking energy resilience; (4) off-grid applications, such as energy islands and offshore wind production sites; and (5) energy traders and producers with the need to address issues such as grid stabilization and congestion management.

Progress sustainability.

Incorporated in January 2023 and based in Thalwil, just outside of Zurich, Unbound Potential GmbH has been rapidly growing its technology and team over the last several months. Starting from early stage ideation and prototyping in September 2021, the team has secured 900k € and 3M € in 2022 and 2023 respectively as non-dilutive funding from SPRIN-D (Bundesagentur für Sprunginnovationen). Our technology attracted multiple stakeholders, resulting in LoI's from key players in the energy market and one paying customer and pilot partner who will be able to store energy in our first containerized storage system by mid 2025.

Our management team comprises individuals who have not only excelled in academia at world-renowned universities but have also garnered extensive industry experience within multinational corporations. They have successfully managed impact-driven projects across the globe.

We come from both local communities, as well as from different corners of the world. We have diverse genders, different backgrounds and nationalities, and a lot of fun.

In our first year, we've already experienced remarkable growth, expanding our team from 5 to 14 members. We've secured 5.5 million CHF in non-dilutive funding and achieved a tenfold increase in the power output of our prototypes, elevating our technology readiness level to 4.

And we are only getting started.
